Born in San Diego, CA   1991

2015-2018 Studied Costume Design at Florida State University (FSU), MFA

2009-2013 Studied Theatre Design/Tech at University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL), BFA

A California native, Amy Avila decided to abandon her beaches and abundant sunshine for college in the midwest. She graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2013 with a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Costume Design and Technical work.  After graduating college, Amy got a job working with costumes backstage at Walt Disney World for some of their many shows and productions including (but not limited to): Finding Nemo: The Musical, The Festival of the Lion King, and Fantasmic!. She has spent the last nine years working in the beautiful Berkshires area of Massachusetts at Berkshire Theatre Group and is currently their Costume Coordinator. Amy has also worked professionally as a Draper for various theatre companies and operas around the country.

 

Amy's most recent costume design credits include A Christmas Carol (2023-24), The Weir (2024), and Frozen Jr. (2024), all produced by Berkshire Theatre Group. This Spring she will be designing Matilda Jr. and The Elephant Man for BTG.

 

Amy earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Costume Design at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in May of 2018.
